Standard travel insurance does not always cover winter sports activities. Skiing and snowboarding are seen by many insurers as an increased risk. Without extra coverage, you are then not properly insured. This can cause problems with:
• injuries on the slopes;
• damage to skis or snowboard;
• theft of winter sports equipment;
• rescue costs, such as helicopter transport;
• liability in the event of a collision with another skier.
Without good winter sports insurance, these costs can increase considerably.
Do you want to go on a carefree vacation? Then it is important that you properly insure your winter sports with appropriate travel insurance. This can be done in two ways:
• with continuous travel insurance with winter sports coverage;
• or with short-term travel insurance for a ski vacation including winter sports.
Good winter sports insurance covers medical costs, rescue costs and damage to your equipment, among other things. Are you going off-piste or do you do other winter sports activities? In that case, additional conditions sometimes apply. Always check this carefully.
Do you go on winter sports once a year? Then short-term insurance with winter sports coverage is often sufficient. Do you go on vacation more often or into the snow several times a year? Then continuous travel insurance with winter sports coverage is usually cheaper.
One little blip can snowball into a disaster, especially on the slopes. By checking in advance how to insure your winter sports, you can prevent unexpected costs during your vacation. So you can focus on fun and a Weizen on the slopes without stress.
